KARABAGH: figures, facts, events and places.
JEBRAIL REGION: This region was established in the territory of the southern part of Mius Khaband Province of Artsakh of the historical Armenian state. It was annexed to the Soviet Azerbaijan in 1930. It covers an area of 1050 km2. During the pre-Soviet
period Jebrail Region constituted part of Jebrail District which emerged in 1875 and covered an extensive area including the Armenian villages of the southern outlying areas of Hadrut Region of the present Republic of Nagorno Karabagh. It is noteworthy that until the beginning of the 20th century basically Armenians and Russians were involved in agriculture while Turks who represented the bulk of the population were nomads.
JERMAGHBIUR: Village Jermaghbiur is located nearby an outlet of the
River Tertu on the way to Rmbostian Pass. Currently it is known as Istibulah
("Hot Spring" in Turkish which in Armenian is "Jermaghbiur").
A village is situated 1,5 km from the southeast of Istibulah - Jermaghbiur,
on the left bank of the outlet which no longer bears its historical name and
is called Kilisa (in Turkish - "Church"). It is notable for the
arched church erected in the 18th century.
