KARABAGH: figures, facts, events and places.
ZUBOV PLATON: One of the civil servants of the Russian Empire in Transcaucasus. Zubov was directly involved in the military actions of Russia in Caucasus. He was the brother of Valeri Zubov, a general (the latter lived in the late 1700' and early 1800'). Zubov is the author of several books on military themes. His historical novel "Karabagh Astrologer or Erection of Shushi Fortress in 1752"
(M., 1834) is about the seizure of the Shushi fortress by Panah, the leader of a Turkish nomadic tribe (who later received the title of khan from the Persian authorities), the history of origination of the wars between the meliks as the result of their dissention. The novel was translated into Armenian and published by Raffi in 1882.
